lynda benglis

This piece above reminds me of Mona Hatoums piece as it has that similar relationship to the idea of intestines, although the shape and delicateness makes it appear more like an organ such as the brain. Also the way she has these displayed really shows the depth - as she played with the idea of lighting.

I stumbled across this american sculptor, who's use work I became really drawn to. She uses wax throughout most of her sculptures, which create an almost natural flow from where it has been melted and almost bled out. These also seem really organic to me - as they seem she's hasn't had that much control over the development of the shape (especially in the last piece) almost as though she's let it grow and hasn't restricted it in anyway.

Also disappointed to realise that I have in fact literally just missed an exhibition! dammit. http://www.thomasdane.com/exhibition.php it looked really great too! (some images above)
I havent posted in ages as I basically had my exhibition and I just got a kitten & cat, my times been occupied a little. I promise I'll post more soon.
In the mean time MEOW MEOW MEOW

ENJOY I KNOW I WILL AHAHA

Mona Hatoum

When I first saw this piece while I was in Paris, theres something about it which really draws you in. Almost as though you are infact going on a journey - it makes me dont want to divert my eyes from the filming even though it is also kind of cringe worthy as well. Although I though you don't take it in as what it is to begin with (inside the body) as you are just so focused on what is happening, am I going to miss something? etc. Her use of displaying it on the floor also has an almost trancing effect as everyone tends to stand around it just starting into it.

This piece really reminded me of intestines, as our intestines are so large - its almost although someone has pulled them out to lay them out. although in this piece is has a very delicate beauty to them. The soft lighting which adds to this.

body worlds

When I visited the body worlds exhibition in the o2 centre, there was something really, almost, unsettling.

Sarah Lucas

I remember seeing a piece of Sarah Lucas' work at the Tate Britain not so long ago now, her work seems extremely powerful. Im looking forward to visiting her up coming exhibition!
